Two letters from Vita Sackville-West to Virginia Woolf
The scene I chose is purely fictional (the letter is not) and actually involves two separate stories about Vita Sackville-West. The first is when she eloped with another woman to Paris and both their husbands had to plead with them in person to come home. The second is a description of the book "Orlando," written by Virginia Woolf, as "the longest and most charming love-letter in literature" according to Harold Nicolson, Vita Sackville-West's husband. This is an amazing story about two women having things their own way while polite society turns its back, pretending the whole thing never happened.
